Sweats The Details Not You - Don't Settle For Ordinary
Hi, My name Is Ed Chiasson...
In 2007 I started a project because a major shift happened with Google.
It was unlike any update in the history of Google.
Something did not feel right about the results Google was producing for organic search results.
The Authority Model(Brands) now E-A-T, had taken place.
Carnage was taking place all over the internet, websites disappearing at alarming rates from page one of Google.
I was hit pretty hard just like everyone else was.
The answer to my quest about what happened from 2007 to present has only been recently discovered.
I'm Going To Pull Back The Curtain And Reveal What Google Has Kept Low Profile For Years.
Nothing Held Back.
Contrary to what the guru’s tell you and conventional wisdom - IS WRONG.
Your business is doing OK but not great. Getting seen on Google is slower than a snail across wet cement.
We’ve all been there.
In the rut.
You read articles on SEO and email marketing, attracting website traffic, effective design and conversion strategies. They make sense on paper but, applying those tactics to your business is another matter.
You feel overwhelmed with ideas about what you should and shouldn’t be doing online and the tech stuff just makes your head hurt.
And then there is the small matter of actually running your business! So you do nothing because your stuck. Being stuck sucks. I get it. So let’s get you unstuck.
The UNstuck strategy isn’t about giving you more stuff to do.
It’s about finding the strategy to apply the tactics you already know that will give you maximum return from your efforts online you’re trying to solve.
It wouldn’t be so bad, but your business demands you stay current, otherwise your competition gets a jump and profits when you don’t.
Today! We are going to fix that - YOU now have the opportunity to be first in line for getting the scoop first. So continue reading if you want to leave your competition in the dust.
What I discovered was like taking off a blindfold.
In 2007 it was too hard to understand what Google was doing, and almost impossible to verify when the Authority Model(E-A-T) was put into place.
Carnage was happening everywhere when Google started placing Brands on page one by default.
I went looking for something new. “My thoughts from 30 plus years of engineering kicked in" tossing aside everything I knew about SEO, Keyword Research and anything else.
As any engineer knows you must first have a firm grip of the problem before you can solve it.
You don’t take this type of decision unless your back is against the wall.
In 2007 applying simple SEO procedures in a predetermined order—like a recipe just was not working.
SEO recipes float all over the internet like opinions, most of that information when you dig down into who is saying this, is just parrots repeating and repeating most times inaccurate with no real research behind it.
To understand the behavior of Google by applying those recipes is impracticable.
While it is possible to analyze Google’s behavior by hand, it can be a Herculean effort.
What was needed was a visual representation of Google’s dynamic behavior.
Trying to visualize Google search ranking data with the existing tools, sorting out what actually matters, and critically matters, and using really, really bad tools to solve a problem they were never designed for.
I realized will never materialize the answers for solving the carnage that took the world by surprise in a Brand dominated Google.
As a follower of Jay Abraham he says, “many times solutions to problems have already been solved in other industries.”
That phrase made so much sense, in engineering a class of tools for “Model Based Design,” has been around for many years. In fact almost everything today depends on these tools most SEOers know nothing about but is common in the engineering community.
With “Model Based Design,” we create a kind of flowchart that describes the rules you should follow (the “model”), and the software exposes for you what is needed based on those rules.
If you really look hard at all the SEO and Keyword Tools that you’ve got out there, that you’re using, none address what is actually happening in the Google search results.
I created Model Based SEO to model what Google actually is ranking, similar to a picture on your screen as your blueprint. By contrast Standard SEO, uses details to define how Google will rank you.
The charts and competitive intelligence created with Model Based SEO make the system’s rules obvious: Just by looking, you can see that the only way to get to the top of Google is applying the rules Google uses to place websites on page one.
It’s a way of focusing less on the details and more on the problem you’re trying to solve.
We have benefited from fortunately 20 years of initial background work, on how search engines work.
The benefit of using Model Based SEO comes from being able to gather lots of data and visualizing the competition. Then digging into the details why the competition ranked on page one of Google.
Instead of taking all the details and applying them to your webpages hoping they match what Google is actually using to place a website on page one.
Most of you have the process backwards.
In practice Model Based SEO, allows you to create a realistic model of page one of Google and test it not just thoroughly, but exhaustively.
This was exactly what I had been looking for when designing Model Based SEO. Apply what we know about search engines after we know what is needed.
Working with the details makes you miss the forest for the trees.
Using all we know about search engines Model Based SEO was born to be used early in the research process.
.
It has since largely been divorced from Standard SEO concepts. SEOers think in terms of details rather than ‘verification.
Using Model Based SEO is now a matter of responsibility, and we need to get better at this.
SEOers look at on page factors, off page factors, etc... to solve their tactical functions and they glue it together and iterate.
That’s completely fine until you run smack into a real problem, that's when you need to think about the strategy differently.
Up till now the only strategy available to you is what you know like everyone else knows. Links, On page SEO, off page SEO, content, keywords, etc...
If you’re having problems getting on page one of Google with those tactics used blindly, it is because you're stuck in Herd behavior and don’t know any different.
No wonder, people are failing to get results with tactics instead of focusing on a different strategy like Model Based SEO.
Life is a constantly changing, Google’s business model is also constantly changing but the tools to keep up with the changes are not keeping up with those changes.
Model Based SEO is the new way to approach what is actually happening day to day, update after update with Google.
The world’s most valuable resource is no longer oil, but data.
The money is in The Big Data Economy.
It's no surprise to many of you about Google tracking everything but it goes deeper than just tracking.
Model Based SEO exposed the missing piece of the puzzle about The Big Data Economy.
Before we explore Model Based SEO, you must first understand how the Google Executives "THINK" about us.
Did you know that Google is turning to the dark side?
This is eye opening because...!
Recently Google removed it's famous "Do no Evil" from its code of conduct. Google it.
Quoted leaks below confirm what they think of us as users of their search engine and the motivation of going to the dark side to support The Big Data Economy.
Then 2007 "Brands are how you sort out the cesspool."
If you need all the juicy details, you can find the original information at adage.com "Google's Schmidt Says Internet 'Cesspool' Needs Brands"
Now 2018 “The common theme [as expressed by Google execs] is that we [the general public] make wrong decisions not because the world is inherently complex but because most people are self-interested and dumb — except for the self-anointed enlighteners, that is.” Like, Google has appointed itself to be The Great Enlightener.
Reference - https://wattsupwiththat.com/2018/07/21/google-big-brother-knows-best/
Seems like things haven't changed since 2007 they think we are dumb, since the cesspool statement.
This is significant because when they hand out those free productivity tools for your use, your not aware of their true intent.
This is where CLARITY and VALIDATION about what really is happening with Google.
One year after Google switched to the Authority Model favoring Brands in search (Now Called E-A-T) - Chrome was released. One of Google's free services!
For a long time Google was leaking out that backlinks will start being downplayed.
For the life of me, I couldn't understand how could this be, backlinks have always been the foundation for promoting authority and popularity, all the reasons why one website is better accepted than another website until 2007.
Afterwards Google started morphing into a new search engine. It started to change it's algorithm from being written by their engineering staff to what is now controlling the search results Artificial Intelligence.
These two things Authority and Artificial Intelligence were setting the stage for what was about to happen next.
Before I discuss what CHROME really is, let's first look at what the general consensus is.
Google Chrome is a cross-platform web browser developed by Google. The browser is also the main component of Chrome OS, where it serves as the platform for web apps.
It is popular with users because of speed the single biggest factor in Chrome's ascension. It starts up more quickly than IE or Firefox and uses a special JavaScript engine that means complex web pages render in less time.
Today Chrome's global market share for browsers is in the 70% range maybe more.
Now, here is my discovery about Chrome.
Chrome is what you call a dark horse.
"A Dark Horse by definition is something about whom little is known but who unexpectedly wins or succeeds."
I've got to admit Google has cleverly created a piece of software that see's all. In fact the technology that influences who get on page one of Google has been in front of the world's eyes all the time and no one is saying much about what Chrome really is.
At first I suspected Chrome was a heat map from all the testing. The truth is its a much bigger piece of technology that is pretty eye opening.
Everyone on the internet today should be aware everything you do is being tracked. In the marketing relm they do this with a technology called "ClickStream".
Again don't believe me Google it.
Google had been leaking for a long while that backlinks were going to be downgraded, not eliminated but downgraded.
To complete the loop of my investigation why Chrome was built I discovered a presentation as early as 2001 about "ClickStream."
This was presented approaching 20 years ago.
Two things I want you to spot if you already have not.
This is not a coincidence.
Google was founded in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin while they were Ph.D. students at Stanford University in California.
I suspect the gap of technology was the limiting factor on why we are only seeing this happen in recent years.
If this was a huge "WOW" moment, your not alone.
Think for a moment what the implications of this is.
Every mouse movement, every website you visit, any email, every cart abandonment, even what you do inside FaceBook is all being seen by Chrome and recorded.
Most of the world is using Chrome in one form or another. Think about the power of Chrome for what it means to Google and the search results.
This was not possible until Artificial Intelligence was viable. Mathematical algorithms written by engineers had their limitations, but A.I. can write their own algorithms on the fly to meet the needs of Google knowing what the best user experience is.
My apologies for such a long winded explanation about why you can throw out what you know about building a website or doing any SEO.
Do I have inside knowledge on what Google and Chrome are actually doing, of course not and neither does anyone else. The difference is anyone who is not keeping up with the actual search results has been left behind.
All anyone can do today is look at the actual results and make informed decisions.
This comes back to the idiom - Do as I say, not as I do
If your still following all that hocus pocus about search volume, KPI and any made up metric other than hard cold facts your days on the internet are limited. It's no different than those tactics that stop working leaving you with that empty feeling of what's next.
Now you have the foundation of what is really happening.
Next is my approach how I discover what it takes to be seen in Google on page one.
Before I dive into how I use Model Based SEO, let me qualify two things.
Next the metrics I've been using since 2007 that has helped discover my findings.
I use one metric which you will see shortly in action, a made up metric by MOZ called Domain Authority.
This metric I really don't care what the numbers are other than I've grouped them into three divisions, Easy, Medium and Hard.
Hard is generally Brand websites, most everyone knows what they are, Medium fairly well-developed websites and lastly Easy which most of us fall into this category.
This is all you need to know about Domain Authority.
I use Domain Authority because, after extensive testing, the metric is fairly reliable for defining if you are a big website or a little website. That is all I use DA for, I don't care what the numbers are, more than likely the actual numbers are wrong other than website size and authority.
That's all I use Domain Authority (DA) for.
Actually, any metric that tells if your looking at a big website or a small one should work.
Let's start looking at some examples of evidence why things like backlinks have been downgraded for page one results.
The images below are some examples of what I call the "David and Goliath Scenario."
To validate my data, I use 50 seed buyer keywords combined with a product to show consistent results about what Google is ranking.
The software I use to automate the process creates a chart showing how the Domain Authority is spread out across the 50 keywords.
The numbers below the chart are how many keywords are being used. The data inside the red shows the Average Domain Authority on Page One for this group of keywords. The purple line is the ad counts for checking if keywords have monetary value or lack of ads giving you higher placement in organic search.
1- The chart is all red the average Domain Authority for this group of keywords is over 60, anything over 60 is red this means Big Websites(Brands) dominate this group of keywords.
2- Data below the chart shows details about a page one website with a Domain Authority of 20 in the number one position for a Brand dominated group of keywords, anything under 40 green generally means smaller websites.
3- Total Domain Count shows just a few domains are controlling the conversation for this group of keywords.
While Total Domain Count less than 40 shows how many smaller websites are participating in the conversation against Brands.
4- This means when you look at the data, small websites generally have much lesser amounts of backlinks compared to Brands. When you view the content of the number one ranking website generally the content of the big websites have very little relevancy compared to the smaller website in the number one position.
The conclusion about how a small website got to the number position without all those backlinks is the content has more relevancy. You can't out-link Brand websites.
All the examples below follow the same pattern, all discovered with the automated software created to find these David and Goliath scenarios. So just because you see Brands dominating it does not mean you can't compete. You must identify if any other smaller websites has been selected by Google as most relevant.
This means some keywords in this group have relevancy issues.
Google will always use Authority(Brand) websites by default when relevant content is lacking.
This is the greatest opportunity being missed using the Old Standard SEO Strategy because your focused on the details instead of the Google search result activities.
Details about how this relates to Chrome will be explained below. The examples being shown are the smoking gun to how the discovery of Chrome came about.
My favorite method for getting on page one of Google is to find easy to rank keywords.
This means the more green and some yellow that shows up in the charts gets my attention as possible easy to rank keywords.
Using the same seed buyer keywords every time for the discovery process gets you consistent results every time instead of random results.
Here are some examples of keyword charts that should get your attention for further investigation.
Every once in a while you get a UNICORN a keyword that has been overlooked and can make you lot's of money.
This all green keyword is in the Golf industry. I was surprised to find this golf keyword not even Amazon was on page one for this product. On Amazon, this product sells for over $200 to over $1,000.
This niche is extremely passionate and lucrative. There are lots and lots of toys for people who play golf spending money to improve their game.
Unfortunately for you - I am not revealing this money-making keyword, I hope you understand.
Want to find these types of money-making keywords get the software into your hands and do the work.
In the above examples when looking at how many domains control any particular group of keywords in the organic search rankings most times it is controlled by just a few domains.
Here is one example where I took SEO questions from "People also ask" and found just the opposite.
This tells me that even thou some heavy hitters are in the search results no one domain is controlling the conversation for this particular group of keywords.
Every software out there works from either a keyword or domain using details as the root for research then looking at tiny segments of search results to try to fit the Old Way of SEO into the new way Google ranks domains.
While Model Based SEO using NOOOLOGY looks at the big picture of the Google Search Results and identifies David&Goliath scenarios, weaknesses in relevancy for Brand Dominated Keywords, Google Updates that don't mean anything, etc...
Nooology is the first software that looks at Google's search results behavior and displays a visual model and details, so you can identify opportunities and exploits instantly.
Having data like this at your fingertips you have a Quantum Leap Advantage over your competitors who are trying to fit SEO details into Google's clickstream technology and pray it works.
While using Model Based SEO data you instantly know what ranking factors are being used so you optimize and do better than the existing domains on page one.
Remember ClickStream Technology is constantly recording actions performed on a website along with its related actions prior and afterwards.
There is no other reason it can be when it is a small website against giants.
When the smaller websites in 2007 started to be purged from Google's Page One results. Many times Brands were on page one of Google with just an image and no content.
The perfume, cosmetics, fashion and many other industries had the luxury of being placed on page one of Google by default. Google implemented the Authority Model in 2007 today it is called E.A.T.
E-A-T stands for “Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness.” High-quality pages possess a high level of E-A-T while low-quality pages don't.
Back then the data came back almost always all red. Very few opportunities existed.
I remember one time a customer contacted me about his disappointment in finding only red-colored keywords. My reply was to start thinking out of the box for smaller known keywords the masses were not focused on.
Once Chrome and Artificial Intelligence(RankBrain) became entrenched, things started to relax.
Before 2007, I did very well placing on page one for Government Grants(reference the chart below). The beauty of the automated software I was able to maintain legacy data to show this change.
The chart on the left is 2007 for the Authority model. Who better to trust than the Government for Government Grants. Make sense?
Now the chart on the right is after Artificial Intelligence and Chrome started working together to allow smaller websites to start showing up on page one.
I know this niche very well because I dominated it pre-2007.
Both charts use the same exact keywords. The difference in 2007 when the content was analyzed the Government content was not always relevant forcing you to look at other sources, sometimes many pages later in the search results to find what you needed to secure a grant.
The chart on the right those missing relevant results started showing up on page one after Chrome and A.I. started working together.
I have many examples that followed the same pattern over and over, having before and after legacy data, helps confirm Google trends when changes are happening in the search results. Trust the actual results, not the hype around updates, conventional wisdom is very rarely correct.

User experience design (UXD or UED) is the process of enhancing customer satisfaction and loyalty by improving the usability, ease of use and pleasure provided in the interaction between the customer and the product.
Chrome(Clickstream) gathers all the webpage actions and Artificial Intelligence makes sense of the raw data, then ranks webpages according to their UX.
Modle Based SEO found example after example this happened frequently. All you need to do is look at the David & Goliath scenario's, small websites out performing giants. This does not happen with standard SEO practices, the only way is having a better user interaction with their visitors.
We are not saying everything you know about SEO and webpage optimization is gone. But we are saying they are downplayed and many times just the UX of a webpage gets you to page one of Google.
A prime example, take a look at the Food Network industry for recipe keywords. They are the most aggressive and progressive users of UX.
Just go looking for a recipe and participate in what you need to do to read a recipe.
Do you think Brand industries are creating webpages out of thin air? Of course not they have huge teams working on their webpages. They have access to resources only reserved for them.
Resources like Google.
Google assigns teams of people to help Brands manage PPC campaigns. Advising them every inch of the way for page quality and edging them forward on the things to come.
Brands are no longer the dinosaurs of the internet. They are the ones to study and emulate given the vast resources they have dedicated to win the Google page one race.
Ignoring their actions now and the years to come is foolish if you want to play with the big boys for page one rankings.
Nooology (Model Based SEO) is the only software created to discover this.
While other software are focusing on link counting, keyword density, weird KPI formulas and other things too numerous to list that means nothing today with clickstream.
I don't add metadata. None of my images have alt tags, I don't care about keyword density the list goes on. I can't remember when I purposely used "H" tags unless I was forced in WordPress to use them.
Conventional Wisdom most times is wrong.
Here are 6 things I focus on when I build my webpages.
Just about everyone who is reading this I'd be willing to bet doesn’t know who I am. Except for a few loyal subscribers who open every email I send out, bought everything I ever made, because I don’t say or make crap. It works, or I don’t make it period.
Cloud technology will allow us implement 2 new technologies. Machine Learning for Model Based SEO and a (pat. pending)Pattern Recognition Technology for a feedback system.
Since 1991 I've ridden the multiple times the internet has morphed, we are no fly by night operation. Cracking what we know as RankBrain took over 12 years of research and experimentation deciphering why Google behaves as it does today.
How many of your gurus had over 10 million pages up and analyzed over a billion keywords, but you follow their every word.
Don’t be trapped in things that don’t mean shit.
Enough with the Google bashing and me.
Let's move forward with the truth.
I remember vividly, in 2007, sitting at my desk thinking why I was losing page one rankings when no new Google updates happened.
In fact, before 2007 using Keyword Planner and The Long Tail worked well, I had over 10 million pages up in Google, most on page one, many of them heavy hitters and next to impossible to rank for today.
Until I stumbled upon the only reliable and repeatable way to turn your “4 hour workweek” type fantasies into your reality…
It took me over 3 years to discover how to exploit Google's New Vincent's Change - Authority Model (E-A-T).
My goal was to find niches with low amounts of Brands and easy to rank keywords.
Here are a few examples using my exploit to get page one rankings.
The rankings have held page one rankings for years. My little website has had no new content added to it since I created it.
Before you pass judgment on the examples below, I want you to keep in mind what you are looking at and the goals.
If you build your pages the way I do, Google will do the rest for you, because of the Authority your building being on Page One everywhere.
We discovered this because of all the testing we constantly do with Model Based SEO.
The other thing you need to consider again is, I've not added any new content on these pages for years and still hold page one rankings.
The competitive analysis results and chart for Model Based SEO Nooology shows my favorite method for finding a moderately easy niche.
I have a client who ranks for a local term that has the same results.
He sells a local fishing map and every local term he ranks for it with ease using this exploit.
Question always comes up about traffic and easy to rank keywords. Testing confirms it takes lots of keywords to generate traffic.
Closely analyze the Google Analytic images below. I show proof traffic generation is not about high volume search counts/keywords from Keyword Planner.
You will immediately see that the average visitors/keywords is quite low.
Using Search Volumes from Keyword Planner has no affect to your traffic stats.
If your still clinging onto Google's Keyword Planner and relying on the Long Tail you should know.
Especially if you can't be found on page one!
As I was writing this, I took an image from SEMrush for one of the largest authority affiliate website's (GearPatrol) that get's over 1/2 million searches monthly.
Imagine what you could accomplish if you had their traffic coming to your website!
Their visitors/keyword are much lower, only getting 1.089 visitors per keyword.
It goes to prove you don't need high volume search counts from Keyword Planner to drive phenomenal amounts of traffic to your website.
Instead its all about high amounts of keywords to drive that traffic that counts.
If you are looking for the same results, I can do the same for you.
No one till now has considered clickstream technology as the basis for ranking on page one.
You have been exposed to one of the biggest shifts in Search Engine Technology that Google has.
Model Based SEO - NOOOLOGY was created to give you instant Clarity and Validation about any group of keywords.
